With E3 2018 fast approaching, it’s time to go through some more predictions. For the third parties, I’ll go through the ones that have press conferences.
To say EA has had an interesting couple months is a bit of an understatement. Between micro-transactions problems to Anthem‘s development, the publisher is in need of some good buzz and they’re already on their way. Some obvious predictions are the presence of Anthem and Battlefield V. They’ll both probably get new trailers, looks at gameplay, and potentially public betas before launch. As for Anthem, it wouldn’t be surprising if they announced a launch window or specific date. Other than those, the obvious EA Sports titles will get the spotlight (Madden, NHL, etc.). One thing I’m hoping to see is more Star Wars announcements. Whether it be console or mobile, seeing what EA has in store for the IP would be great.
Skyrim on the pip-boy? With this conference, anything can happen. There’s bound to be more details about Fallout 76 and what type of game it’ll be. There’s also been speculation about an anniversary edition of Fallout 3 which would be nice. Other than that, some possible announcements could be a sequel to Doom, more Wolfenstein and Prey content, and more Switch game announcements are some things that come to mind. In terms of Switch games, stuff like Dishonored or Fallout are likely candidates. It also wouldn’t be surprising if they announced a new IP. Bethesda Game Studios have been supposedly working on other projects so an announcement on one of them could happen.
So much Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy. With this month being a big month for Kingdom Hearts 3, a release date is bound to come up along with deeper looks into gameplay and more story details. With Final Fantasy, another look at the VII remake, new installments, and maybe some ports are some possibilities. With the recent trend of porting Final Fantasy X/X-2 and Final Fantasy XII, an announcement of a port of XIII/XIII-2/XIII-3 could pop up. As for Final Fantasy XV, more details on the next round of DLC are could come up too. Other than those two franchises, more details about Life is Strange, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Dragon Quest, Hitman, and Marvel’s Avengers game are all possible.
For the last third party, there’s a lot to go through too. One thing that’s been confirmed is the presence of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and The Division 2. They’ll probably get new trailers, looks at gameplay, and release dates/windows. Assassin’s Creed will probably come out in November while The Division 2 will drop next February or March. Other announcements could be Just Dance, Watch Dogs, South Park: The Fractured But Whole DLC, and Beyond Good and Evil 2.
There’s a lot to look forward to and I probably missed an obvious prediction or two. I’ll be at EA Play and E3 so I’ll be checking out as much as I can.
